SWAN VIEW UNITING CHURCH
COMMUNITY GARDEN
On Monday 5th December 2011, the Community Garden was officially launched with Mrs. Helen Dullard, President of the Mundaring Shire Council, others of the Shire staff and Joshua Hobby who is the designer of the garden. Representatives from the Swan View Community Association, Swan View Senior High School administration, Swan View Uniting Church and members of the local community were also present. The Community Garden is within the grounds of the Swan View Uniting Church, which provides water and amenities for gardeners.
Many thanks are due to the Shire of Mundaring for their financial support of this project
The produce from the garden is not only shared amongst the gardeners but with Anglicare emergency food bank. We are grateful to the ABC Open Gardens Australias cheme for providing a grant to enable us to build a Gazbo in the garden.
In addition to the local community, the garden assists three groups from the Disability Services Commission. These groups come with their Social Trainers to engage and interact with the community, as well as learning gardening skills. In October 2016, the Garden was awarded the "5 Leaf Eco-Awards Basic Certificate for commitment to the environment.
